The art of simplicity
Porro’s iconic collections converge with the visionary works of Bruno Munari
INTRODUCTION
In collaboration with Porro and Sfelab, GRAYE presents an immersive installation honoring the visionary work of Bruno Munari. Through direct slide projections and curated vignettes, the exhibition explores Munari’s lifelong pursuit of clarity, play, and poetic function. BIOGRAPHY
Bruno Munari (1907–1998) was a polymath of Italian modernism—an artist, designer, educator, and inventor whose work blurred the boundaries between disciplines. From kinetic sculptures and graphic design to children’s books and experimental teaching methods, Munari’s output was united by a singular ethos: that simplicity is not minimalism, but a form of intelligence.
In the 1960s, Munari designed Porro’s iconic logo—replacing the two “O”s with an overhead view of a screw, a nod to the brand’s woodworking heritage. This collaboration reflects Munari’s belief that design should be both functional and poetic, a philosophy that continues to influence contemporary design practices.
His legacy endures through Corraini Edizioni and the Spazio Munari in Milan, where his works continue to inspire new generations.
