INTRODUCTION
Theater of Shadows, presented by GRAYE for Frieze 2026, celebrates the gallery’s 15th anniversary with an immersive exploration of light, space, and emotion. Under the creative direction of Benjamin Juhel, the exhibition pairs Living Divani’s refined furniture with site-specific video projections, soundscapes, and textured atmospheres. The films draw on film noir, using shadows and silhouettes in slow, contemplative sequences, while Nuit Américaine captures Los Angeles in light and darkness across urban roads and wild landscapes. Juhel’s poetic, painterly work invites reflection, contemplation, and a sensory engagement with light, texture, and the subtleties revealed in shadow.
