ORIGAMI CUBS
ORIGAMI CUBS
—
Designed by Brenda Holzke
The Origami Cubs Sculpture by Brenda Holzke is a set of two handbuilt ceramic pieces that explore angular form, texture, and the expressive qualities of clay. Each sculpture combines folded, geometric planes with organic irregularities, creating a tactile relationship between structure and material. The handmade surfaces preserve subtle variations in the stoneware, emphasizing the individuality of each piece within the pair.
Created in Los Angeles, Origami Cubs reflects Holzke’s ongoing exploration of clay through experimentation and material expression. Presented as a set, the two sculptures create a visual dialogue through their related forms and proportions, bringing a contemporary sculptural presence to interiors while maintaining the warmth and character of handmade ceramics.

Brenda Holzke is a Los Angeles-based ceramic artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans ceramic sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Working primarily with handbuilt clay, Holzke creates contemporary ceramic sculptures and vessels inspired by organic, indigenous, and geological forms. Her work combines primitive visual references with a contemporary approach to form, surface, and material.
Holzke’s ceramic practice is rooted in experimentation and an intuitive approach to making. She embraces the inherent unpredictability of clay, allowing imperfections, variations, and unexpected results to become part of the creative process. Handbuilt forms and layered surfaces reveal the tactile qualities of the material, while her sculptural ceramics reflect an ongoing exploration of texture, shape, and transformation.
With a background in fine art, design, and functional ceramics, Holzke brings a developed understanding of form and visual composition to her studio practice. Her work has evolved from years of creating handmade ceramic wares into a fine art practice centered on ceramic sculpture and material exploration. Working from her Los Angeles studio, Holzke continues to push the possibilities of clay through contemporary ceramic works that emphasize process, experimentation, and the expressive qualities of handmade art.
