ORANGE BLOSSOMS
ORANGE BLOSSOMS
—
Designed by Brenda Holzke
The Orange Blossoms sculpture by Brenda Holzke is a handbuilt stoneware piece with a shallow, tray-like form and a composition of vivid orange circular shapes across its surface. Finished with underglaze and glaze, the piece combines a tactile ceramic surface with a graphic arrangement of color and form. The irregularities of the handmade construction preserve the material character of the clay while giving the work a distinct sculptural quality.
Created in Los Angeles, Orange Blossoms reflects Holzke’s exploration of organic forms, surface, and color through ceramics. The contrast between the structured circular motifs and the naturally varied surface creates a contemporary ceramic work that can be displayed as a sculptural object or decorative vessel.

Brenda Holzke is a Los Angeles-based ceramic artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans ceramic sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Working primarily with handbuilt clay, Holzke creates contemporary ceramic sculptures and vessels inspired by organic, indigenous, and geological forms. Her work combines primitive visual references with a contemporary approach to form, surface, and material.
Holzke’s ceramic practice is rooted in experimentation and an intuitive approach to making. She embraces the inherent unpredictability of clay, allowing imperfections, variations, and unexpected results to become part of the creative process. Handbuilt forms and layered surfaces reveal the tactile qualities of the material, while her sculptural ceramics reflect an ongoing exploration of texture, shape, and transformation.
With a background in fine art, design, and functional ceramics, Holzke brings a developed understanding of form and visual composition to her studio practice. Her work has evolved from years of creating handmade ceramic wares into a fine art practice centered on ceramic sculpture and material exploration. Working from her Los Angeles studio, Holzke continues to push the possibilities of clay through contemporary ceramic works that emphasize process, experimentation, and the expressive qualities of handmade art.
